Completing The Vision
Klyde Warren Park, Phase 2.0
From the moment the Park opened in 2012, we have welcomed more guests than we ever thought possible, representing every neighborhood in Dallas and beyond, as well as international visitors from around the world.
After years of watching and learning, we know that you can never have enough water features or places for children and dogs to play. Therefore, in 2022, we undertook an ambitious project to make three important enhancements to the Park:
• The space closest to Pearl Street has been transformed into the iconic Nancy Best Fountain, beckoning children to play during the day and lighting up the sky each night with a choreographed musical performance.
• One of the most visited places in the Park, the Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park, was expanded and enhanced, thanks to a generous donation from the Perot family. It now includes new play equipment, a climbing wall, and the Sowden Family Pavilion for birthday parties and other celebrations.
• My Best Friend’s Park, a beloved amenity for all Dallas dogs and their owners, was relocated across the street to a bigger, shadier space that is making lots of tails wag.
Additionally, we will be expanding 1.7 acres to the west (toward Field Street) and covering the last recessed part of Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
An award-winning glass and steel jewel box will be suspended over the freeway between St. Paul and Akard. The iconic building consists of 24,000 square feet of climate controlled reception and event space on two levels, and a 8,000 square foot roof terrace.
West of Akard, you will find The Jacobs Lawn, a 37,000 multi-use outdoor venue that will provide space for the kind of festivals and markets that help define a city. During the winter months, it will be transformed into an ice-skating rink, and we’ve got special plans for the rest of the year, too.
The engineering and design process is underway in collaboration with HKS, Gensler and Jacobs. We are grateful for our public partners as well, including the City of Dallas, TxDOT and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
“Klyde Warren Park is a beautiful place that helps stitch together our city center and serves as a wonderful attraction for Dallas residents and visitors from around the world.”
- The Hon. Eric Johnson, Mayor of Dallas
